Our Volunteers

Pathways Friends

We try to serve as a primary source of information for the students to help them navigate a complicated and unfamiliar environment. We assist them in any way possible to serve their spiritual needs. We make opportunities to help them get the most from this experience and to enjoy the historic, cultural and natural beauty offered by our islands.

Gala Event

We sponsor special events designed to offer comfort and fellowship, including free dinners and other social events. Our volunteers also provide much needed local transportation – and we are always in need to volunteers to help with this service. When needed, we are also prepared to serve as their counselor and advocate in dealing with employment and housing issues and as their “safety net” when confronted with personal problems. We also offer language support services, including tutoring and some translation services (limited to selective languages).

Computer Lab

One of our most important services is to provide communications for the students. Though our bulletin boards at Pathways House and through this website, we serve as a clearing house for information on employment and housing information. We also provide free internet access from our Pathways International facility, which has approximately 15 networked computers. These services are vital for allowing the students to maintain contact with their families and national cultures. For students outside the area of our Kitty Hawk facility, we have established computer kiosks in churches located throughout the Outer Banks – and we are striving to continuously expand this network.

"The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
