Information on obtaining housing on the Outer Banks

Outer Banks Housing
Many types of housing are available on the Outer Banks

Pathways International is a good place for students to search for housing. We have volunteers available and willing to help. Our directory of available housing is divided into geographic locations and provides up to date listings of houses and rooms to rent.

Please, note that Pathways does not guarantee rentals. All rentals are between the student and the realtor or homeowner. If there is a question we will be glad to discuss the matter and help if possible. Please give us your email address with all communication.

Student housing is available in different ways:

Most houses require a deposit. If the property is damaged or the lease agreement broken, the cost will be deducted from the student's deposit. Student's must read the lease agreement and understand it BEFORE signing. This is a binding contract!

The Outer Banks of North Carolina has very limited public transportation so it is important to find housing close to where the student is employed.  (See Transportation).

The advertisement sections of the local newspapers, (Outer Banks Sentinel and the Coastland Times), are also good sources of housing information. Note the Coastland Times does not have a website.

Information for Students:

* Mile marker system: upon entering the Outer Banks at the Wright Memorial Bridge on the main road in Kitty Hawk the highway is marked  - on both sides of the road - by mile marker posts at each mile and each half mile going south.  Mile marker "1" is located one mile from the bridge.  Markers continue to mile marker "17" in Nags Head.
