TransportationTransportation presents the greatest challenge for International Students on the Outer Banks. Railroads and bus lines do not extend to this area. Riding a bike is the best way to travel on the Outer Banks.
It is very important that you arrange for your transportation to the Outer Banks before you leave your home country. Your sponsoring agency or your employer should be able to help get you here. A Pathways volunteer can meet you at the Elizabeth City bus station, if you make arrangements in advance. See the section "Pathways Assistance" for travel. Call us at 01 252 255 0042 Monday through Friday 10 am to 6 pm EST.
It is important to select housing that will minimize your needs to travel long distances. To do this you need to know the location of your employment before you arrive, so that you start searching for accommodation near your job before you arrive. |
