Transportation

Transportation presents the greatest challenge for International Students on the Outer Banks. Railroads and bus lines do not extend to this area. Local taxi and limousine services are the only public transportation available. Riding a bike is the best way to travel on the Outer Banks.

It is extremely important that you arrange for your transportation to the Outer Banks before you leave your home country. Your sponsoring agency or your employer should be able to help get you here. A Pathways volunteer can meet you at the Elizabeth City bus station, if you make arrangements in advance. See the section "Pathways Assistance" for travel.

"To him who is able to do immeasurable more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."

Ephesians 3:20-21

It is important to select housing that will minimize your needs to travel long distances. To do this you need to know your specific place of employment before you arrive, so that you can immediately concentrate your search for housing in the right area.
